Today is KICK OFF for our Spring Cleanse and as March is Kidney Awareness month we are starting with a Daily Kidney flush – Details at the end of todays post.
The Cleanse programme is designed to inspire you with healthy and positive ways to support your diet and lifestyle and reduce toxic burden.
Health is not a case of ‘one-size-fits-all’. Everyone has a different starting point and changing what you eat can be tough.
Sometimes it feels uncomfortable to give up a food or drink, that may be giving you temporary feelings of pleasure, like sugar, alcohol and coffee (STIMULANTS!)
We are here to support each other so if some things seem overwhelming OR if it is your first time following the cleanse, be kind to yourself. My motto is: “Do your best and keep it real”.
The programme tends to be easier once repeated, so for first timers it is a learning curve.
We all have busy lives to lead and sometimes this comes with unexpected interruptions that may throw you off course for a day or two.
The key is to focus on YOU and not compare yourself to anyone else, as we all have completely different genetic make-up.
If you can achieve one positive change at a time, you are still taking steps in the right direction.
For those who have not followed the programme before, please make time to:
- Watch the 4 short webinars I have recorded which can be found on your membership page.
- There are also many expert videos to try to watch during the programme.
The foods consumed in the programme help to move us away from the high sugar and refined carbohydrates which may negatively impact our gut flora and our immune systems and pur unnecessary strain upon our detoxification organs.
During the first few days of the programme toxins will start to break down and as they do so they may also make you feel lower in energy. Take time out for yourself. I encourage REST, especially during your first week.
The good news is that any detoxification “symptoms” will pass fairly quickly if you focus on moving, sleeping, eating well, and adding in some lymphatic movement/massage.
Our kidneys and liver are essential organs that work tirelessly to filter and remove toxins from our bodies. Over time, these organs can become overwhelmed, especially with the demands of modern life. Other organs of detoxification to focus on are our intestine, skin, lungs, gallbladders
Kidneys naturally cleanse your body by filtering waste from your blood.
Kidneys work hard to support the liver, so I am encouraging you all to include kidney support in the first few days of your cleanse.
Kidney flush (Days 1-5 if possible)
- Juice of one lemon and one lime (preferably organic)
- 1 litre of filtered/distilled water
- 1 pinch, up to 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (work up to the higher dose slowly during the week).
Mix together and drink on an empty stomach within 1 hour of waking. This rinses and flushes the digestive tract of any food residue and stimulates the kidneys.
